7 Ways/Reasons to Give Praise to God

7 Ways/Reasons to Give Praise to God

Here are three ways for you to praise God.

#1: By Giving Thanks to God

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV)

One of the best ways for us to praise God is by showing gratitude to Him for practical and even sophisticated things we have. Prayer is one way we can show gratitude to God. We can also show others that we are thankful to God by telling people when we are thankful to God.

One practical thing you can do to help you think of things to thank God for is to make a list of things for which you’re thankful. Consider making a habit of adding a few things to that list each day.

#2: By Singing Praise to Him With an Attitude of Worship

Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

(Psalm 95:1-2 ESV)

With joy in our hearts let us sing praise to the rock of our salvation! We should want to sing joyful praise to God. If for no other reason, let it be because He is the founder of our salvation. Because He is the one who made it possible for us to be freed from our sins and to be able to spend eternity with Him.

#3: By Giving Glory to God Instead of Praising Ourselves

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

(1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV)

Do all things for the glory of God. The best way we can give praise to God is by making less of ourselves and making more of God. Whatever we do, we need to be doing it for God’s glory and not pridefully for ourselves. We must do things humbly for God. When we do that, we will experience the joy of serving God with humility, knowing that when we do things with an attitude of humility we are storing up treasures in heaven and we are showing others around us how amazing God is.

4 Reasons Why

#1: Because God Forgave us Through His Son

God was so gracious to offer up His perfect Son to die for our sins so we could be saved and freed from the bondage of sin. If we have no other reason to give God praise, then that reason should be enough for us to want to give God praise. He is worthy of our praise because He loves us and forgave us for our rebellion against Him.

#2: Because Nobody Else is as Worthy as God

Who else is as worthy to be praised as God is? Nobody is. God is deserving of our praise because of all that He has done for us. God is worthy because no one else has forgiven all our sin. He has given us life. He created the earth. He created us. That makes God worthy.

#3:  Because We Must be Obedient to God’s Word

Several times the Bible tells us to give praise to God. If you want to look a few of them up in the Bible, here is a quick list of a few verses that talk about praising God.

  • Psalm 100:2
  • Psalm 150:6
  • Hebrews 13:15
  • Psalm 117:1-2
  • Psalm 146:1-2

I hope those passages are helpful to you.

#4: Because We Were Created For The Glory of God

God created us for His glory. We are told many times in the Bible that God created us for His glory. One verse that says it specifically is found in Isaiah chapter forty three.

“Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” (Isaiah 43:7 ESV)

If you need to, you may want to read the surrounding verses to help you understand the context a little better.

God formed us and made us for His glory. In the sin corrupted world we live in, we naturally want to praise ourselves and take glory for ourselves instead of giving it to God. If we learn to be obedient to God’s word, and give Him the glory, we will grow nearer to God.

I hope you remember these things and humbly practice giving God the glory and praising Him in every part of your life.
